What To Expect From PTSD Therapy Online
Consultation
Therapy starts with a consultation. This is where we get to know each other and start to build a therapeutic bond. We get to know you and appreciate where you are and what difficulties you are having. We discuss what it is you need to help you get better using a holistic integrative approach.
Trauma Therapy & Processing
Trauma therapy and processing is based on a strong therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. We have a past present and future focus. Cause of trauma, current difficulties and a where you would like to get to. We might also work on stabilisation, grounding and psycho-education prior to processing. Processing may involve psychotherapy, EMDR therapy or Cognitive Processing Therapy.
After Processing
Once trauma is processed the natural recovery process can begin. This can be helped by further therapy to assist with associated difficulties or problems you might still be experiencing. Examples might be addiction, depression or anxiety. You might also feel that after your PTSD symptoms have reduced that you would like to concentrate on addressing topics around addiction, or re-engaging in meaningful relationships or reconnecting with life in general.
