What To Expect From EMDR Therapy Online
EMDR therapy online starts with a telephone consultation. This is where we discuss the difficulties which you are having and what your options are regarding therapy.
The first few sessions are a chance for us to build a relationship together. This enables me to get to know you and for us to get used to working with each other prior to carrying out any EMDR processing work. This phase of therapy might also involve some stabilisation, psycho-education and grounding work. This may take place as part of therapy or in between therapy sessions.
EMDR preparation and Processing
EMDR therapy follows a specific set of protocols which include developing resources to help with trauma processing. Once preparation for EMDr has been carried out we would process your traumatic memories. Processing trauma is carried out over a period of weeks following a set format.
After EMDR therapy processing we might go back and re-evaluate where you are in your therapeutic process. EMDR can help you in relation to your therapy as a whole. You may be in a better position to look at other areas of your life which might need attending to in the therapy or you might just want to look at next steps on a very practical level.
The therapy takes place as part of a caring therapeutic relationship in a safe confidential one to one basis.
