CCPE Building London

Psychotherapist London

Matthew alderton - MA, BSc, Dip, Dip Pych

I am a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner. I support my clients through mental health difficulties with an integrative and holistic approach.

I provide care through support but also self empowerment and meaningful interventions to provide long lasting change. I am caring, approachable and down to earth offering help based on the person I am helping.

I work in Paddington London and Cuffley Hertfordshire.

What is it like working with me?

I am personable and build trust with my clients in a down to earth way. The relationship we have is real and caring within the bounds of therapeutic principles and practices. Working with me enables you to find a sense of safety and peace which you might not be in touch with outside of a therapeutic environment. Establishing trust and strong therapeutic bond is the only type of container where healing can begin. As a person centred therapist I will follow your lead to find out where you are and what difficulty you might be experiencing on your life journey.

How we work together depends on what way of working is best suited for your needs. If we work in a psychotherapeutic way you are in control of the session and we work with whatever comes up in a nurturing collaborative way with some psychotherapeutic intervention. If we are working with an EMDR focused approach you take the lead and be in control but we work within a specific framework and set of protocols.

Therapies I Use

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is one of the simplest most effective forms of therapy there is. Being heard and having yourself reflected back to you allows change and growth.

Some techniques i use include: creative imagination, elements model, internal family systems, creativity, transactional analysis and more.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy provides a specific approach for working with trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, Phobias and Tinnitus.

It helps desensitise you to trauma and change the meaning it has for you. EMDR can also be a powerful tool for building resources for change.

Body Psychotherapy

Body psychotherapy honours the connection between the mind and the body. Both are intertwined in relation to the way we function as beings.

I utilise body based therapy as part of psychotherapy. Examples include: polyvagal theory, emotional freedom technique, trauma release, breathwork and somatic experiencing.
