Life Coaching

Life coaching is a process which helps to support you in achieving different life goals through collaboration, partnership, strategy and accountability.

We offer life coaching as a stand alone way of working with a forward focus. Unlike the therapy we offer, coaching has a more direct forward thinking focus. Therapy and coaching do have some similarities in relation to their format. In therapy and coaching we will meet weekly and you are in control of the topics you might wish to work on. Both are about unlocking your potential through self development and a collaborative relationship but therapy is more focused on healing from historical difficulty whilst coaching might look at a specific future goal. 

Life coaching topics could include working on your professional career or personal goal, working on your relationships, finding meaning, purpose or direction in life or working on personal growth through the development of life skills, e.g. communication skills. I work as a mentor and coach to help my clients live a more rewarding fulfilling life. I bring my personal experience, professional qualifications and twenty years helping people in mental health and teaching. I set up the coaching arm of my practice due to several of my clients needing a more coaching focused guide rather than a therapeutic one. I have worked as a teacher-trainer for blue chip corporates in London relating to marketing, public relations and leadership. I used to work in the private sector in the corporate world in London. I run my own psychotherapy practice, coaching practice and e-commerce business. The coaching arm of my business works well with a psychological backdrop. With this backing I am able to motivate, energise and guide my clients to become the best versions of themselves.  

Life Coaching Approaches

I utilise a number of different coaching approaches and styles. The approaches I use are dependent on what style a person is most receptive to and what is most appropriate for them to reach their goals in life. Each has its own style and merits. In reality we will use a mixture of al of them at different points of coaching. I have given a few examples below. 

Holistic Focused

This approach focuses on a client's overall wellbeing and growth within the context of different life elements. These include emotional, physical, professional and personal aspects of a person's life. 

Solutions Focused

This approach focuses on what is going well and helps you to identify what is going well and what you aim to achieve through visualisation. We then work on practical steps to get you there. 

Transformational Coaching

This approach helps a person to change their perspective of themselves and the world. A person might explore, their core beliefs, values and identity to help them change their viewpoint. 

Cognitive Behavioral Coaching

With this approach we focus on how your thinking is affecting your behaviours and ability to achieve your goals. We explore the interconnected nature of thoughts feeling and behaviours. 

Mindfulness Coaching

Mindfulness coaching is like a bridge between mindfulness and more traditional types of coaching. We work on bringing awareness to the present to improve wellbeing. 

Positive Psychology Coaching

In this approach we focus on whats is going well and what your strengths are. We focus on building resilience, delving your strengths further and foster positive emotions.

What happens in a life coaching session?

Each coaching session is slightly different. We might be talking and exploring something you are working on. We might be reviewing progress towards a specific goal, looking at hurdles and difficulties in achieving a goal or doing a specific exercise. 

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching lasts until you have achieved a goal you set out to achieve or feel like you have made as much progress as you can. Length of time varies from person to person depending on what they would like to work on. Most clients see us for a minimum of two months. 

How can I get the most out of life coaching?

Make notes so you remember what we have discussed and what you have worked on. Attend sessions regularly and put into practice that we have agreed and keep an open mind. Often change is subtle and takes time and commitment.
